Soft Skills

Made possible by a grant from the City of Columbus, the “Skills for Work, Skills for Life” series seeks to help adults and transition youth with any disability learn and develop “soft skills” such as communicating, listening, solving problems, coping with change, and understanding and valuing diversity, among others.

Our skill-building curriculum consists of 4 unique modules designed to reduce barriers to employment and enhance the student’s competitiveness for the job search. Topics include:

  • Avoiding stereotypes/appreciating uniqueness
  • Lifestyles, work values & self-esteem
  • Interpersonal awareness & effective communication
  • Needs, barriers & strategies for success
  • Interests & skills identification/inventory
