Our History

Columbus Speech & Hearing Center was established in 1923 as the League for the Hard of Hearing. The League focused on assisting hard-of-hearing individuals in the Columbus community to improve their ability to communicate. Over time, the League experienced name and location changes; however, the desire to help individuals in the central Ohio area remained. Focusing on the needs of the community, the League evolved into the programs that exist at Columbus Speech & Hearing Center today, which include Audiology & Hearing Aid services, Speech-Language therapy, and community ASL classes.

For more than 90 years, Columbus Speech & Hearing Center has continued to offer exceptional service to clients across Ohio. By remaining focused on its mission to help all people improve communication independence, the Center raises awareness of speech and hearing challenges throughout the Columbus community and surrounding areas.

Our mission: To unlock potential for individuals with communication challenges through all stages of life.

Our vision: To be the recognized leader providing personalized service and caring attention to help the people we serve achieve their full potential.
